South Ossetia continues active efforts to strengthen and develop its border with Georgia, despite the lack of progress in the negotiation process on this issue. This was stated by Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation, while summing up the results of the latest meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).

"The work on developing the border, including the engineering structures, surveillance equipment, and other means, is ongoing," Kochiev emphasized. "It will continue according to plan, and ultimately, the South Ossetian-Georgian border will become a model."

The South Ossetian party had repeatedly called on Georgia to resume negotiations on the border delimitation and demarcation, he has reminded.

"If the Georgian party were to meet us halfway and sit down at the negotiating table to discuss, delimitation, and subsequently demarcate the border, that would be a wonderful thing," Kochiev has noted.

However, according to the head of the delegation, Georgia has not yet shown the willingness to engage in the dialogue.

"So far, the Georgian party has not been cooperative, and we are unilaterally developing the state border," he said.

Furthermore, South Ossetia has called on Georgia to intensify efforts to inform its population about the location of the state border.
