Two Georgian citizens have been expelled from South Ossetia for violating the state border

South Ossetian authorities have expelled two Georgian citizens detained for violating state border regulations. This was reported by the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.

According to the agency, on January 13, 2026, the border guards detained Nika Kokoshvili (born 2006) and Guram Grdzelishvili (born 1999)-residents of the village of Takhtisdziri in the Kareli Municipality.

During the investigation, it was established that the men had crossed the South Ossetian-Georgian border unintentionally. The incident occurred near the village of Mugut in Znaur District.

"On Tuesday, in accordance with legislation, Kokoshvili and Grdzelishvili were expelled from the Republic and fined," the statement of the KGB reads.

The agency has emphasized that the border forces fully control all possible entry points and areas of influence along the state border.
