The removal of the illegal Georgian police checkpoint from the territory of the village of Uista in South Ossetia has once again become one of the points of discussion within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format. This was reported to the representatives of the mass media by Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of President of the Republic of South Ossetia for Post-Conflict Settlement, the head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM Egor Kochiev.

The 121st meeting was held in the border village of Ergnet on Thursday.

Since the last meeting within the framework of the IPRM, 6 cases of violation of the state border of South Ossetia have been recorded. This was reported to the media following the 121st meeting within the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) by Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of President of the Republic of South Ossetia for Post-Conflict Settlement, the head of the South Ossetian delegation at the meetings Egor Kochiev.

On the border of South Ossetia with Georgia, since the previous meeting within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms, no violations have been recorded by the Georgian police and the European Union Observer Mission, the head of the South Ossetian delegation at the meetings within the IPRM, Egor Kochiev, told reporters.

He has noted that the past period was quite calm - there were a minimum of violations of the state border, as well as the detentions.

At the next round of Geneva discussions, the South Ossetian delegation stated the need to significantly intensify еру work to clarify the fate of the missing and called on the Georgian party to take practical steps to solve this problem. This was reported by the press service of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry.

On June 25-26, 2024, the 61st round of International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, held in accordance with the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements of August 12 and September 8, 2008, took place in Geneva.

Negotiations within the framework of the Geneva discussions

After Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia in 2008 and forcing the aggressor to peace, the efforts of the South Ossetian party were aimed at ensuring security and stability in the Republic. This was stated by the head of the South Ossetian delegation, State Advisor to the President Konstantin Kochiev at the meeting of the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions in Tskhinval.

The co-chairs of the Geneva discussions arrived in the Republic on Tuesday.

The flights of unmanned aerial vehicles, which continue to violate the airspace of the Republic, were raised by the South Ossetian party as part of the regular meeting in the format of Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms.

The head of the South Ossetian delegation, Yegor Kochiev, told reporters about this, commenting on the results of the 119th meeting in the village of Ergnet.

He noted that the ownership of these devices often cannot be determined.

The South Ossetian party, at the meeting within the IPRM, once again pointed out the need to remove the Georgian police post from the territory of the village of Uista in South Ossetia, the head of the Republic’s delegation at the meetings in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms, Egor Kochiev, said.

Participants in the Geneva discussions on Transcaucasia - South Ossetia, Russia and Abkhazia - are working on the issue of transferring the negotiating platform with several neutral countries, including Russia's immediate neighbors. He has emphasized that the South Ossetian party will continue to defend the legitimate interests of its country on any platform.
