Representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in Italy Mauro Murgia took part in the event in memory of former member of the European Parliament Giulietto Chiesa, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.

"On April 27, a memorial evening was held in Rome at the Teatro Marconi, dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the death of the prominent Italian journalist, political and public figure Giulietto Chiesa, attended by his associates, like-minded people and friends," the press service has noted.

We have no right to forget any pain of the Ossetian people, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev said at the memorial rally dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Tsinagar tragedy in April 1991.

The President stressed the importance of preserving historical memory and passing it on to future generations.

April 28, 1991 is a tragic date in the modern history of South Ossetia.

On this day, seven unarmed residents of the village of Tsinagar in Leningor district - Otar Margiev, Givi Bibilov, Slavik Chertkoev, Zaur Khubulov, Otar Khubulov, Tengiz Dudaev and Taimuraz Khubulov - were killed by the Georgian militants while defending their pastures from cattle rustling.

This crime became one of the first evidences of growing aggression of Georgia.

For 34 years, this wound has been bleeding in the hearts of residents of the Republic and the relatives of the victims.

In South Ossetia, they cherish the memory of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who defended our freedom, the entire Soviet Union, liberating the world from fascism. This was stated by Executive Director of the Russian Presidential Grants Fund Anton Dolgov during his visit to Tskhinval.

"This year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, which was the result of the contribution of all the peoples that were part of the Soviet Union, including the residents of South Ossetia.

A delegation of Parliament of South Ossetia headed by Speaker Alan Margiev, at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, will take part in the work of the International Patriotic Forum "Great Heritage - Common Future", the press service of the legislative body reports.

The event will be held on the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.

The Dorum will be held on April 28-30, 2025 in the hero city of Volgograd.
