In Tskhinval, the co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions have once again seen the willingness of all the participants to continue working within the format, the EU Co-Chair Magdalena Grono has stated at the briefing following the latest meeting.
"Of course, disagreements remain on many issues, and the parties' positions are sometimes very distant, but the commitment to the process and the willingness to engage in the discussions give us hope and confidence that the Geneva Discussions are valuable and a useful tool, offering hope that in the future they can help improving the quality of life of those affected by the conflict," Grono has emphasized.
She has noted that the consultations in Tskhinval relate to the upcoming work of the two working groups.
"The first working group deals with security issues, and the second with humanitarian issues." "It is precisely within the framework of the second working group that the issues of improving the life of the population affected by the conflict are being discussed," Grono said.
She has added that the important issues discussed in both working groups are aimed at creating common security architecture.
The Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia are held since 2008.
