The State Security Committee (KGB) of South Ossetia announced the completion of the case against the Georgian citizen Giorgi Uznadze, detained in March of this year for illegally crossing the Republic's state border.

On Tuesday, after serving a six-month sentence, he was released and handed over to the Georgian side.

According to the KGB, on March 17, 2026, South Ossetian border guards detained a 31-year-old resident of the village of Samtavisi in the Kaspi Municipality.

South Ossetia will hold memorial events to mark the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism.

In his message, Gassiev emphasized Russia's strategic role as "a great power and a reliable partner, firmly committed to protecting peace and security in the region."

In Tskhinval, Marat Kambolov held a meeting with the Russian delegation on the implementation of the decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission on Socio-economic Cooperation between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.

The Georgian citizen unintentionally crossed the South Ossetian-Georgian border near the village of Sinagur in Dzau district, the South Ossetian KGB press service reports.

"On August 17, 2026, a Georgian citizen Lasha Dzhemalovich Gulitashvili, born in 1986, a resident of Perevi in ​​the Sachkhere Municipality, was detained by the South Ossetian border guards for illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia," the statement reads.

On August 19, Gulitashvili was expelled from the Republic and fined.
