The annual patriotic event “St. George’s Ribbon” started at the Eternal Flame in Tskhinval on the eve of the Victory Day.

The event began with volunteers laying flowers at the eternal flame.

Then the children toured the capital on a motorcycle with a red banner.

The volunteers presented the first “St. George Ribbon” to the head of state, Alan Gagloev.

The children pinned a symbol of memory and military glory on the president's lapel and gave out a flyer that told about the history and rules of wearing the ribbon.

In Tskhinval, Azamat Bitiev, perished, while performing his military duty in the zone of a special military operation, was held on his last journey.

Azamat Bitiev was fighting as part of the Sarmat battalion. The farewell took place on Heroes Street, where the fighter was living.

Representatives of the Republic's leadership, led by President Alan Gagloev, came to the farewell ceremony.

Friends, relatives of Azamat were remembering him as an honest, brave, reliable person.

In Tskhinval, another fighter, Alan Alborov, perished, while performing his military duty in the, Special Military Operation was given his last farewell with military honors.

Alan was only 26 years old. The young fighter was fighting as part of the Sarmat battalion.

The leadership of the Republic, led by President Alan Gagloev, as well as friends and relatives of the deceased came to see off the fighter on his final journey.

In Tskhinval, in the Colonel Zelim Muldarov Special Forces battalion, a ceremony was held to award military personnel who had taken part in ceremonial events to commemorate the Independence Day of Abkhazia and the 30th anniversary of the victory in the Georgian-Abkhaz war of 1992-1993, the press service of the Defense Ministry of South Ossetia reports.

The events took place in Sukhum at the end of September last year.

On Monday, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev held an operational meeting of the Security Council of the Republic, the press service of the head of state reports.

“In connection with the celebration of Great Easter, the Security Council of the Republic decided to allow crossing the state border in a simplified manner through the IGGG “Razdaekhan” and “Pereu” from 08:00 May 3, 2024 to 20:00 May 6, 2024,” the statement of the press service reads.

In Tskhinval, in front of the State Drama Theater, the exhibition “Crimea - 80th anniversary of the feat” opened on Monday, dedicated to the liberation of Crimea and Sevastopol from the Nazi invaders.

The initiators of the exhibition in the capital are the public organization of Russian compatriots “Rossy” with the support of the Russian House in Tskhinval.

In Dzau district of South Ossetia, was honored the memory of the victims of the devastating 1991 earthquake.

On Sunday, residents of South Ossetia are celebrating one of the 12 main holidays of the Orthodox Church - the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem or Palm Sunday. The holiday has a tradition - to come to churches with willow branches and, after consecration, bring them home. The willow is placed in vases and stored for a year.

Orthodox believers attribute special healing powers to the consecrated willow, believing that it can save from thunderstorms, heal the sick, and protect livestock from pestilence, the evil eye and predators.

The agreements signed between Russian investors and the government of South Ossetia, are important for socio-economic development of the Republic, Prime Minister of South Ossetia Konstantin Dzhussoev noted during the press approach.
