Israeli airstrikes on the Syrian Arab Republic and, in particular, on the territory of the presidential palace and the General Staff building in Damascus, are a violation of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter, the representative of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry said.
"Expressing support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria and condemning such forceful actions by the Israeli side, fraught with another round of escalation of tension in the Middle East, we proceed from the need to prevent further negative development of the situation and to resolve the existing contradictions exclusively by political and diplomatic means," the commentary reads.
July 16, Israel launched airstrikes on military targets in Syria. These included the military headquarters and the presidential palace area. There ar dead and wounded civilians.
