Security and the achievement of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force with Georgia remain the key priorities for South Ossetia at the upcoming Geneva International Discussions.

This was stated by the Republic's Foreign Minister, Akhsar Dzhioev, commenting on Tskhinval's position ahead of the 66th round, which will take place on March 18-19.

According to the Minister, South Ossetia's position on these issues remains unchanged and will be reiterated at the meeting in Geneva.

"Yes, our position on these discussions is clear; it is not new. The 66th round of these discussions will take place literally in the middle of the month." "Our delegation is leaving for Geneva, and, as before, security remains our primary issue," Dzhioev said.

The Foreign Minister noted the lack of progress in this area.

"Unfortunately, the Georgian party has not yet demonstrated the proper understanding of the need to reach the agreement on the non-use of force. Since this is extremely important for us, without appropriate guarantees backed by legal provisions, I think it is clearly impossible to develop any other areas," he has emphasized.

Dzhioev has stated that the South Ossetian delegation will once again persistently raise this issue.

"We hope there will be some progress, but the meeting itself will determine this," the Foreign Minister concluded.

The next round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia will be held in Geneva on March 18-19.
