In January of this year, five violations of the South Ossetian state border by the Georgian citizens were recorded. This was stated by Yegor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation at the talks, summing up the results of the recent IPRM meeting.
According to him, a criminal case has been opened against one detainee, while the other four were fined and expelled from the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia.
"I can say that there have been no violations by the Georgian law enforcement agencies during this period. That is, the Georgian police officers are not violating the border, and this has been going on for quite some time, which we consider a very positive development," he has noted.
The incident involving the European representatives was also discussed at the meeting. The border violation was recorded by a patrol of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).
"This issue is being actively discussed with both the EU Mission leadership and the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions. I want to say that there is a certain understanding on this issue, and we hope that these violations will eventually cease, as they stopped in the area of the village of Mugut. There were also instances there where the mission's patrol entered the South Ossetian territory, but after the intensive consultations and work, these violations ceased," Kochiev has clarified.
