Kisiev had been missing in action for exactly one year. It was only now that his body was returned to his homeland.

Representatives of the Republic's leadership, led by Prime Minister Dzambolat Tadtaev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, and the hero's family, friends, and comrades-in-arms attended the funeral.

Marat Kulakhmetov has noted that Soslan was a true hero.
