It's time for Tbilisi to stop dreaming about uniting its lands and adopt a pragmatic approach to assessing its perception of reality, the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry noted, commenting on the speech of the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili at the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna.
"Bochorishvili did not fail to voice a set of clichéd statements about the 'occupation,' of the so-called territorial integrity of Georgia, and other assertions divorced from reality.
"Let's leave it to Ms. Bochorishvili's conscience for her "ignorance" of the well-known fact, confirmed by the results of the EU international commission's investigation led by H. Tagliavini, that Georgia was the aggressor against South Ossetia in August 2008," the Foreign Ministry stated.
It was noted that such verbal equilibristic with the obvious arguments, as delivered by the official Tbilisi, once again confirmed the danger of applying a policy of double standards.
"Instead of a substantive discussion of security guarantees with South Ossetia, we are witnessing another attempt to shift the focus from the existing political status quo to abstraction.
This biased approach by the Georgian side, while verbally acknowledging the effectiveness of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, in no way contributes to strengthening confidence-building measures and constructiveness in the negotiation process, in which the OSCE representatives are also participating," the Foreign Ministry concluded.
